The works that make up the Sedimentary Series are an exploration of the intricate relationships between the material and immaterial aspects of contemporary life and the interchange of the recognizable and abstract worlds which we all occupy.
The artworks follow a process of transformation between beauty and decay, the natural and the man made which alternate between solidity and fragility, timelessness and change.
Through the layering of urban fabrics, industrial textures, medical imagery, and abstract forms the works trace our own visible realities evoking the basic contradictions between nature and life.
The artworks are created by layering digitally manipulated images found on the internet, juxtaposing the man made with the natural. The use of line and grid connects the layers instilling the forms with a sense of worldliness.
The series is accompanied with a collection of ‘soundscapes’ inspired by the images. The complex compositions created by layering synthesized sounds and samples compliment the nuances of colours and textures depicted within the artwork.
